What Is The Point Of A Detox
There is quite a bit of talk about detoxing today. There are a variety of one day or even week like detox diets that people do on for a wide variety of reasons. What is the point of doing a detox for your body? Does it do any good?
The main point of detoxing is to get toxins out of the body. There are traces of toxins and heavy metals in the body. The concept is that by eating most liquid food like water, citrus juices, fruits, and vegetables, that anything negative that is built up in the body can be taken care of during the day or days that you choose to attempt to get toxins out of the body.
Some go through detox as a way to lose weight. While some weight is lost, typically it's most water. It's not the best way of trying to lose fat as there just isn't enough time during a detox to really lose much fat at all.
Others use detox to get back to normal. This means letting the body rest from all the stimulants that are put into it day after day. It's a period of letting the body rest from everything similar to what the body would do during a fast. There are benefits to this type of activity every once in awhile. It's easier than a fast since you can still eat certain foods versus just drinking water.
For some a detox is a way of dealing with certain bowel issues. Some have claimed better digestion after eating a detox diet for a few day.
Lastly a detox gives the body time to heal. As major organs are taking a break and your body is not focused on digestion, energy can go towards other issues that you might be having letting you potentially heal better.
